i got a letter today addressed to the parent of ds.

it says 'now your baby is reaching weaning age we would like to invite you to an informal weaning talk at either 9.30 or 10.30 at your local sure start children's centre..'

now, ds is

10 weeks old

i guess this is to get hold of mums who might be starting weaning at 12 weeks or something but flippin heck..he's only just been born!

perhaps it's an error.

You would like to hope it was an error, but some how I feel it may not be!

I had my weaning talk before DD turned 4 months. This was only 2 years ago.

Is it because they don't have the funding/time/staff/resources to do weaning talks more than once or twice a year.

I was invited to one when DS was about 3 months old because the next one wasn;t for another 6 months, and they used it to tell us about the dangers of early weaning too, to try and stop the mums who might haqve started at months.

I'd say it was more a resourcing issue, but they could reword their standard letter!

(In the end we did BLW at 6 months; HV at bit [hmmm] about BLW - a year on she recommends it!)
