I have a baby girl who is just turning 6 months, i started weaning about 3 weeks ago and shes really taken to it! I just wanted to check with anyone out there that her daily diet is ok for her age, not too much or too little, so here goes....

8am 8oz milk

9am bowl of porridge or 1/2 jar of something breakfasty!

12pm half jar of veggies, half a jar of fruit

1pm 8oz milk

4pm half to whole jar of veggies, then half a fruit or custard pot.

7pm 8 oz milk

She goes down on her milk, and doesn't wake until about 7. Is it ok to give her all these types of food even though shes only just started? They are all jars which say from 4months. Also is this enough milk at her age?

Would appreciate any feedback

Thanks Laura.

Hi SassyBo, that sounds fine. She should probably let you know if she has had too much. I think the main thing is to take it very slowly for the first few weeks and then work up to what your DD is getting now.

Your DD sounds like a great wee feeder and sleeper. Ur soo lucky! (Mine is a wee monkey at the moment.) I give her four bottles a day and she still prob wouldn't drink as much as your DD. She is also wakening repeatedly at night! 7-7 would be a dream! lol

Not sure if I have picked you up right but are you feeding DD jars from the store? Have you considered making ur own food? Its soo much cheaper. I bought 'ice cube' looking trays out of boots and you just buy a load of veg/fuit, steam/boil it and blend. It can all go into freezer and its great.

Actually quite fun to make as you decide what goes in.
Have fun

Ah thank you! Yes shes so good bless her but because shes not a moaner, it makes you worry if your not doing it right as she never complains about anything! Just brought a mini food processer and done my first batch of apple and pear! I'm slightly alarmed by the cosistancey of some of the jars i've tried! A bit jelly like, or they turn into a watery substance after 5-10 mins, very peculier! She seemed to like a plum foods pot of sweet potato and squash, so thats next on the agenda. Lillia has only dropped her 11pm feed since doing the 3 meals a day. It does feel like shes either eating or drinking most of her waking time! I thought she may not want her milk after a good solid feed, but she's kept the same, always loved her milk. Because shes opening her mouth to the spoon and swallowing it all up, i wasn't sure if i was giving her enough, but to me i don't feel like she should have anymore. She might pop! I guess if anything a smaller milk feed of 2-3oz might be better to squeeze in before her lunch and dinner as these are the times she seems to be narky, which is always a hunger sign! Such a mine field this weaning! Thank you for your reply i hope you get some full nights sleep soon!
