Any roast root veg goes down well in our house - especially sweet potato wedges.

  • broccoli and cauli florets
  • pasta (something like spirals are easier for them to grip)
  • big wedges of sweet potato/butternut squash/any root veg
  • yorkshire pudding (my DS ate huge amounts of this within a few weeks of starting BLW)
  • fish is lovely and soft so easy to chew and swallow
  • weetabix
  • handfuls of risotto - sticks together so they can grab handfuls so really good way of trying rice and getting veggies/meat in too
  • omelettes (if you are happy to do eggs - i did from 7mo but i know some people prefer to wait) - cut it into strips. can add veggies, cheese, ham etc, to it as well. spinach and cheese always a fave with my DS
  • pancakes can be done in the same way
  • little sandwiches with fillings like cream cheese and grated cucumber, hummus and grated carrot
  • pitta to dip into hummus

try cooking things in a slightly different way or with different flavours - e.g. roast the carrots next time, add a bit of rosemary and garlic to potato wedges, offer a bit of mint sauce to dip the lamb in.

cream cheese is a wonder food when doing BLW. fave of DS was pasta spirals with sauce made of cream cheese, parmesan and spinach.

also, lovely book called finger foods by jennie maizels has tonnes of ideas. wonderful dip in there (lentil and tomato) that makes a brilliant pasta sauce.

mashed pot with cheese mixed through it (messy)
pasta shapes
h/m fish fingers- cut up fish, flour, egg then roll in bread crumbs and fry
cheese wedges
avocado wedges
h/m cheese straws
meat balls
mashed veg (butternut squash, toms and peas are nice) with couscous made into balls and fried off
thick omelette cut into strips
boiled egg wedges

All of these are lovely ideas - watch the ham though, 1 slice contains over half of a baby's daily salt allowance ...

Melon in long pieces
Steamed brocolli&Courgette dipped in homemade pesto
Pear went down a treat for breakfast
Cucumber with hummus
Chicken bones-obvioulsy made sure no small bony bits left but with some meat&juices
