I know I should know better than to be worrying, i know all babies are different, but am still after some reassurance that DD is actually going to "get" eating eventually??? anybody else's baby take a while to get going with food? I offer mainly finger food now, she'll wolf down the occassional jar if hungry, but otherwise mainly interested in self throwing it on floor -feeding, so hardly takes anything in. She has BF on waking, mid morning, mid afternoon, bedtime and whenever she wakes at night. how does this sound? TIA.

My 8.5mo DTs have only very very recently started to eat more, and more purposefully. They still bf morning, before each nap, bedtime and x2 at night. Some days they eat loads some days it feels like nothing. They self feed (BLW from 6 months) but I also spoon feed (for the last month or so) something each day, e.g. perhaps porridge at breakfast and some rice pudding at tea, but ensure that they feed themselves lunch and have some finger food at every meal.

So, I think, sounds normal. BUT I do know what you mean and some days I am desparing that they will ever eat enough!

thanks, reassuring also that your DTs have similar amounts of BF. Yes, I forgot to add, she will usually have a yogurt, quite happy to eat that off a spoon, so se has one most days (or custard).

then try also: homemade rice pudding (forgive me if you know the recipe, but I was amazed how easy: 2oz short grain rice, 1 pint whole milk, little grated nutmeg; bring milk to boil in small pan, add rice and nutmeg, simmer for 5 mins, put in shallow ovenproof dish and bake at 180 for 40mins), cereal like readybrek/porridge at any meal not just breakfast (include mashed fruit for variety), pasta in cheese sauce. HTH
