Gagging / Choking?

6.5 mo DD is doing very well with purees and mash. I had been partly BLWing her also until the day some banana got caught.
How do you differentiate between gagging (normal) and Choking (not normal)? Esp as you need to move fast.

As I understand it, gagging involves noise - ie coughing and maybe crying - whereas choking is silent as the airway is actually blocked.
