we started weaning about a month ago but in the last week or so ds has become a bit constipated. he is passing solids but it seems to causing him some discomfort. he is bf aswell and he is still taking as much milk as before but should i now be giving him juice/water aswell?

he is having a baby porridge and tiny bit of toast for breakfast, small pieces of fruit during the day and whatever we have for dinner.

what can i do to make things a bit easier for him?

If you're bottle feeding (couldn't tell from your post) then he'll need water as well, but bf babies don't usually at this age so I was told anyway! Have you tried him with dried apricots (soaked overnight, they're v.easy to eat as they are or puree) or prunes as a snack, that would help and prune juice is a lot easier to take than orange etc for little tummies.

he is breastfed. i wasnt sure if prunes might be a bit too hard on his tummy at this age. i am thinking i might just go stop the weaning for a while and ebf until he is a bit older. i think his digestive system might be under too much pressure just right now.

I would give some water in a cup along with solids - even if only to get him used to the cup itself.

would that help with the constipation?
