DS 6 months is an eating machine!

I am slightly concerned that DS (just 6 months) is eating loads just after starting weaning!

He is having lunch and dinner - half a small jar of fruit/veg per meal with a few spoonfuls of fruit after his savoury. He is also offered a small amount of finger food when he joins us at the table.

He is od bf and typically has feeds at 7am, 10.30, after lunch, mid afternoon, after dinner and at least one night feed.

He seems to love his food and constantly shouts for more when we finish his spoon fed meals.

Is he eating too much or am I just thrown after a DD who wouldn't eat anything??

He sleeps better when he is eating and has not become constipated or shown signs of stomach ache.

Help am I a neurotic mum or is my DS a little porker??!!

My DD1 was just like this! I weaned at just under 6 months, she was already crawling and sitting unaided and straight away she was off! I did all the usual purees, she was up to about 2 tablespoonfuls in a week and I think she tucked into the soft bits of a roast dinner after about 2. She just stuffed down everything I gave her - fingerfoods weetabix etc. She was a total gannet.

I just went with it and she's not overweight now (she's 2) her eating quantities have dropped off a bit now I guess she's not growing so quickly.

I think your DS sounds great!

My DD2 (nearly 6 months) is a totally different kettle of fish, I reckon they're all just different. As long as you're giving him varied diet no added salt blah blah all good I reckon

Sounds pretty normal to me - dd2 is 6 1/2 months and yesterday ate 2 yes 2 whole stage 1 Hipp jars for lunch and will now merrily chomp fingers of buttered toast, having worked out what her front teeth are for!

She is also still having 5 milk feeds a day, (2 ff 3 bf) but I have started to notice that she is beginning to drop what she takes now, a few weeks into weaning.

DD1 wouldn't eat anything either just like yours - and I think TBH that it does throw you a bit as you expect your 2nd + child to be the same at the start - but they can be so different!

My DS was just the same, took to food in a big way when weaning started. Now 12mo and still a gannet, a couple of days ago he had eaten a banana, a satsuma, and 2 bowls of shreddies type cereal, by 8am.

Great fun to see them enjoying their food
