Pescatarian advice

Hello!

I'd like to hear from any pescatarians raising their LOs pescatarians as well.

DD is 6 months now and it'd be great to know what exactly you feed your baby, how much, and whether I'd have to supplement with anything. HV told me I'd need to give her vitamins and as this is my first baby I have no idea whether that's necessary or not.

Up to now I've only given her fruit and veg and she likes most of them, she's quite a good feeder.

Any help/advice will be very much appreciated!

Well I have occasionally given DD supplements, but I'm not sure they are strictly necessary if you feed a balanced diet. We have fish about twice a week, and lots of fruit, veg, pulses, wholemeal carbs and dairy. We gave fish from the outset - salmon & cod at first then makerel, sardines, tuna etc. Remember that up until at least one they need lots of fats - full fat yogs, butter, cream, seeds and avocado are all good sources.

Up until 1 milk should be the primary part of their diet, everything else is just getting used to the idea of eating. They will be getting all their essential nutrients from the milk BF or formula.

Thank you Lionstar. I BF her and she still drinks quite a lot during the day (and twice in the night still). I'll start her on fish and pulses this week. I mixed a cube of tofu today with some butternut squash and she LOVED it, so that's good.
