Major screaming fits after meals...

Ok, well, my DD is 7.5mo and I've been weaning her for a couple of months. She has been on 3 meals a day for the past 3 weeks. She has never been keen on having face/hands wiped after a meal, but has become very 'hands on' recently - putting hands in mouth as I put the spoon in, etc, so needs to be wiped!

It's got to the stage now where after she's finished eating, as I go to wipe her hands/face she will scream and scream as if I was murdering her. Even once I've finished, got her out of her chair and cuddled her, she is still screaming. In fact, the only way I can stop the screaming is with her dummy, which is something I'm trying to wean her off a bit at the moment.

Any idea how I can stop this screaming? Am I maybe feeding her too much? She's only little (12lb) as she was very prem, so maybe I'm overestimating... She seems very keen all the way through the meal though, and as soon as she shows relutance, I stop.

HELP!

Could she still be hungry but want a different food? Sometimes mine gets bored of something but gets excited when I offer something new. The only time he ever cries at the end of a meal is when he is still hungry.

babies hate being wiped. its just one of those things. BUT they also love water so with both mine I just wipped off their clothes and then plonked them for a play in the sink or bath. You could also just wipe the hands and then come back for the face a little later while she is distracted and playing. I put dd in large (aged 4) t shirts instead of bibs and the act of taking them off does actually get quite a lot of stuff off without tears cos you can get a sneaky wipe in mid strip

DS hates being wiped, but will let DH do it if he makes it more of a game. He drapes a wipe over DS's face (which makes him giggle), then slowly pulls it down, rubbing slightly at the bits around his mouth that need cleaning. DS is then in a better mood and 'used' to the wipe being on his face, so will put up with being cleaned for a few moments.

I am useless at doing this, but it works for DH!
