what age is your lo? Bacon is very salty so I would use it sparingly.

mrsflux · 19/11/2009 12:44

he's 7 months. i hadn't thought about the salt - oops!
it's only be a couple of rashers in enough spag bol to feed 4/5 adults.

Think its fine in small amounts as you can and should cut down on salty stuff elsewhere in the meal (so no cheese on the pasta, only use homemade stock not cubes in the bol sauce etc. )
also its total intake that matters, not intake per meal

I'd be more worried about the stock than the bacon

no need to puree it anyway, just let her get stuck in with her hands

mrsflux · 20/11/2009 11:21

thanks ladies!

i used a baby stock cube and minimal amount of bacon - 4 rashers for about 6 adult portions.

mrsbadger - we don't do lumps without serious puke so the blender is still essential!

lumps-in-hands very different to lumpy purees

give it a few weeks and try again - worth persisting as it is fab once they crack it (see threads passim re 'help my 12mo is still on stage 1 jars' etc)

cheers mrs badger. DS is poorly at the mo so eating and drinking v little and keeping even less down!

he even pukes on lumps of finger food he's broken off with his new teeth. don't think i'm brave enough for the BLW approach and my OCD would never cope with the mess!
