Hi

Can anyone tell me which adult cereals have an ok sugar/salt level for a baby (preferable hardly any)? I am currently using baby cereals/porridge but would like to try something different as he seems to be going off breakfast.

I think weetabix (regular) or weetabix minis (plain variety) and ready brek are ok.

this is my bugbear. I think only really mini shredded wheat have no sugar/salt in but would have to soak for along time or ready brek? Weetabix are nice consistency but full of rubbish.

weetabix are fairly low in salt/sugar and both my lo's had them from 6 months.

Ingredients for weetabix:

Wholegrain Wheat (95%), Malted Barley Extract, Sugar, Salt, Niacin, Iron, Thiamin (B1), Riboflavin (B2), Folic Acid.

Two whole biscuits have 0.24g of salt so one biscuit has only 0.12g of salt - not that much really.

DD had mini raisin wheats - they are like shredded wheat but with raisins in the ingredients are wheat and raisins. I used to soak then with a little warm milk and they took on a similar consistentcy as weetabix.

DD is 6 months and has shredded wheat bite size (1 min soak in warm milk is plenty) or readybrek - the only stuff added to that is vitamins etc - no salt or sugar as far as I can find.

I am going to give her normal porridge fairly soon as well I think.
