Formula or cows milk

Was making Ready Brek for DS(and me ) this morning and suddenly thought that I should be making it with formula. I had been making a big bowl with semi skimmed and then portioning a bit out for him and adding some fruit.
Should I be using formula, full fat or does it not really matter as long as he is getting his milk feeds as normal?
DS is 6 months and has just started BLW.

I use full fat cows milk in cereal etc for DD. You don't need to use formula in food, unless you want to. I think the official guidance is to use full fat milk, but don't suppose the odd bit of semi-skimmed would do any harm.
