6 calendar months or 24 weeks?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but do you start weaning at 24 weeks old, or at 6 actual months old?

At 24 weeks my DS will still only be 5.25 calendar months old.

Thanks!

It's 26 weeks i think

Seona1973 · 03/09/2009 14:11

26 weeks is 6 months (half of 52 weeks)

norktasticninja · 03/09/2009 14:12

26 weeks is usual, but the guidlines say to start around the middle of the first year.

Mapal · 03/09/2009 14:13

Doh!!

OK thanks. It's just I have a 'week by week' book that says 24 weeks = 6 months old which is a bit confusing!

Cheers!

When your baby is ready . This is usually around the middle of their first year. Sometimes later, occasionally earlier but 6 months is 26 weeks as others have said. Once your baby is sitting unaided, has lost the tongue thrust reflex, is able to pick things up in a pincer grasp and bite, chew and swallow, then they're ready.
