Tomato intolerance

We tried DS with tomato aged 7 months and again a few weeks later. On both occasions he had a severe reaction, screaming and pulling his legs up as if he had stomach ache. The second time it happened (when we were absolutely sure it was the toms) we took him to the Drs who suggested we leave off giving them to him until he was older and his system more developed. He's now 10 months and I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this and at what age your DC got over it - if at all.

My DS had a similar, though not so extreme reaction, and has eaten tomatoes happily from about 18months.
