just a quick question about weaning!

hi all now im almost positive that when my 5year old son was a baby we started weaning from 17/18 weeks ish. This time around im advisd to wean my daughter at 26weeks.
does anyone no the answer to why the weaning age as changed?
i really dont understand it think i may be missing the point somewhere.

General advice is 6 months. Look closer and it says follow the signs shown by your child and no earlier than 17 weeks. So if your child is showing all the signs that they're ready for first tastes of solids then you are still within current guidelines to start at 17 weeks.
6 months is a catch all and means anyone starting "early" will probably risk at 4 months. Say no earlier than 4 months and people will risk 2 months.

do you have anything to back up that assertion?

it's proven there's no benefit to doing it earlier than 6 mos and there are some downsides, more gastro hospital admissions i think, OP. and it's two less months of weaning hassle, imo, and lets you go straight onto finger food.
