Made veg curry for DS but it's quite salty, is it ok for him to eat?

It tastes lovely but I'm sure it's too salty for him.
I'm struggling with the weaning thing, trying to make good, varied things for him to eat & then having them rejected. I could have cried when I tasted it. What would you do? He's 11 months old.
If I give him just a little bit with plain boiled rice would that be ok?

why did you put salt in at all if giving it to a baby?

Nezzi · 29/07/2009 22:57

Stock cube, I didn't think!

I did that when my dd was about 10 months, I watered it down with baby rice, didn't do any harm but I made sure I got the salt free stock cubes the next time.
P.S. I asked on here too

This is going to sound so stupid but do you mean you mixed in some plain baby rice? Would using ordinary Basmati do be the same?

Plain basmati is fine. I would do that. Also, to make it taste slightly less salty you could add a little milk/squeeze of lemon. TBH when my little monkey was weaning I let her have plenty of flavour - garlic, spices, herbs, chilli, pepper - she loved it all! Only problem was that she refused to eat any jar food! She has a very broad palate at 2.9.

Thanks Shrimp, I suppose I could add plain yoghurt too.
Please ignore the "I could have cried" histrionics emoticon
Anybody would think a bit of salt was going to give him instant high blood pressure!

shrimp - your menu sounds fantastic, can you give me some suggestions for meals for my 7 month old? I really value those "superfoods" and have been wondering whether it would would be ok and how on earth to give them to my baby...thanks!
