18 months and not using a spoon???

My son is 18 months this week, and although he will feed him self finger food no prob, he has very little interest in using a spoon to do the non finger food stuff we give him. He will sometimes try and use his fork with his finger food, and if i help him abit will give it a go for a short while with the spoon.
Does anyone else have children that have been late to use cutlery??

My ds is 17 months and still prefers using his fingers or me feeding him. He will use a spoon on occasion, especially if I scoop the food up first for him. My DS is just lazy I think. Why have a dog and bark yourself is probably his reasoning.

Its good to here im not alone, i was thinking he might just be being lazy.

My ds is 19 months and still doesn't use a spoon himself. He'll take it and put it in his mouth if I load it up, but he hasn't really grasped the concept of getting the food on the spoon - he just jabs at the food with it. There is definitely an element of laziness though - he'd ideally like it if I put all his food in his mouth for him. I wouldn't worry, they all get there eventually.

I can recommend the Salmon Luke bowl/spoon set- a bit expensive but totally worth it IMO.

My DD is 17mths and does not use spoon either.

She feeds herself finger food type meals fine and actually refuses to be fed anything with a spoon. And won't try herself really either.

She will occasionally use a fork but gets bored and ends up picking food up by hand putting it on fork waving it around for a couple of seconds then taking food off fork by hand and into mouth

don't think 18mths is late to use cutlery either BTW
