Ideas for sandwiches/toast spreads for a 7 month old please?

DS2 loves feeding himself but I am really struggling with ideas of what to put in sandwiches for him or spread on toast (or, his faves, ricecakes)

I seem to be stuck at philadelphia/cheese spread or cheese or marmite on toast - not very adventurous!! I do want to give him peanut butter but not yet!

What else can I give him in sandwiches?

Houmous, guacamole, tzatziki are all favourites here.

we like houmous, tuna and egg (not together!) mashed up banana is good too.

cream cheese with grated carrot or courgette.

I like tuna and egg together!!

Mashed up pulses - like kidney beans, or any kind of beans or lentils.

Steamed (or microwaved) sweet potato mashes down to a very nice and healthy spread too.

Grated cheese, carrot & cumin toasted in a pitta bread.
Avocado mushed up with melted cheese on top.

Sorry to jump in on someone else's thread, but can you give babies this age mayonnaise (Hellmans)? Was just thinking about doing tuna mayo

oopsacoconut · 12/07/2009 20:58

I do egg mayo with helmans/ tuna mayo too. DD likes poached salmon, avocado, philly and banana, mixed cheese (philly with a bit of grated cheese) also tuna and philly today she had cold roast chicken finely chopped with finely chopped tomato in philly. She is 10 months.

Any baby puree that you might have made (carrot, sweet potato, pear..) works well spread on toast.

We use the odd bit of mayo, dd loves tuna mayo. She's 6 months.

Avocado mashed with philly
Egg mashed with philly
Tinned Salmon mashed with philly

... Philly's a hit in this house!

My kids would have plastered themselves in all that tuna & salmon lol - what a clean up afterwards.

Ceebee if your DS2 loves feeding himself why not have a look at the baby led weaning site and steal some recipes? My DD was exactly the same, and the blogs and website were brilliant. I think it's run by Aitch but am probably out of touch with the knowhow on that!
Anyway - take a look
babyledweaning.blogware.com/

And...get a dog!! . or a big plastic mat!
Good luck!!
