Baby won't open gob!

My 7.5 month DS doesn't really open his mouth to let the spoon in, he sort of sucks food off the spoon instead, which means feeding him takes forever, and is uber messy! Any tips on how I might encourage him to open wide?

I would dispense with the spoon and just give him finger food -would save you the bother and he can have as much as he wants

I never bothered with purees, straight to what we were eating. Like Tommy said, no bother and self regulation.

Agree go with finger food, just give him a bit of what you are eating, when you are eating it, he'll see you enjoying it and try it himself

DD went straight to finger foods too - it worked brilliantly and I'm definitely going ot do the same with DS when the time comes

Within a couple of weeks DD was eating the same as us. The only thing is you need to make sure that the family meal is suitably low in salt.
