Constipation - what can I give my 4 mo?

My 4 mo DD hasn't "been" for a couple of days and everytime I try to feed her she is straining and refusing to eat much. So is there anything she could have that would help things along

I was wondering about prune juice, but I haven't started any weaning yet so might that just make things worse?

Cool boiled water shouldd help to soften itt up. I think yoou can give them a very small amount of diluted (extemely diluted) fresh orange juice. Hope your lo is better soon

Breastfed or formula?

if your baby is BF not going for days (or weeks in my DS case! His record was 12 days ) is actually perfectly normal. Basically there is just much less waste produced with Breastmilk.

No she's fully formula fed, and does seem very uncomfortable. She normally strains when she goes, but is just doing the noises and not prducing anything!

She also is not keen to take her bottles so not sure if she would take water, might be worth a try though.

Try it on a spoon or little syringe if you dont want to press the issue withh a bottle. You can buy the little medicine spoon things, those might work.

I've heard from a HV that if you squeeze the juice from a single satsuma segment and give that to drink it might help... not tried that one though. My DS was like Pepa's, thought I think our max was a mere 11 days .
