Any advise - 18 month old mealtimes are a nightmare

19 month old DS and mealtimes are getting worse, he just doesn't want to eat anything. He sits there and screams and screams, eventually he will usually eat with songs, toys, games, tv, anything to distract him which suggests he is hungry. Sometimes he will eat what i've made him sometimes only baby food. Mealtimes are taking over an hour and are so stressful. Any advise please? thanks

Stop fussing about it. No songs/toys/games/purees. Just what you are making for the both of you. Put it in front of him and eat yours happily.

If it is the highchair he is objecting to, then try lunch as a picnic (just lay out a tablecloth on the floor, put out the food on plates and let him help himself) for the two of you - especially good for breaking the cycle that you have got into

Is he having a lot of milk or juice ?

no he only drinks water and milk morning and night which he is also fussy about and doesn't always drink. I'm worried about saying if he won't eat he doesn't get anything in case he's up all night. thanks for the quick reply - just had a bad lunch and feeling really stressed.
