DD is 28 weeks old. Started weaning nearly a fortnight ago. So far she is having one small meal a day, usually at breakfast time, although today she didn't want it, then gobbled it down at 4pm instead. So far she is having either plain baby rice mixed with formula milk or mashed banana or mashed sweet potato.

I can't remember much about weaning my DS 4 yrs ago, so just wondering what else I can give her for now? We're going down the puree route for now, btw, so thinking along lines of other veg & fruit that's good for those little early tastes. Can give her anything other than fruit and veg?

Also, when did you start upping the amounts you gave and offering more than one meal a day? At the moment she isn't dropping any milk feeds and is healthy and thriving, so not in a rush, just pondering...

Why are you doing purees?

Our babies have all just eaten what we're eating - blw is the way to go! Far easier and less complicated

You can give her anything, btw, after 6m, except for honey and runny eggs. Be tentative with anything allergenic if you have allergies in your family.

Thanks flamingo.

No offence but blw is not for us. I can't bear the constant gagging and choking, and DS was fine with purees and a bit of finger food from 8 mths onwards-ish.

Sorry, not being awkward, but I've thought about it lots.

I did know the honey/egg thing, but had forgotten it. Amazing how sieve-like my brain has become!

you can give her a mix of things.. apple and pear, for example, broccoli/cauliflower with cheese sauce... butternut squash with orange juice is lovely... regular potato goes disgusting pureed but sweet potato is good.

porride or weetabix in the morning

scrambled eggs? can never remember about eggs

shepherds pie, spag bol etc can still be liquidy and spoon fed. but more interesting flavour for her

you can give finger food in conjunction puree, toast fingers, rice cakes, cheese cubes ,steamed apricots..

offer some food at lunch and dinner too and see if she wants any... she will start dropping milk feeds when she is ready, but milk is still the main source of calories and nutrition for her.. lots of little tastes of lots of things is fine, don't have to have set meals

Carrot is usually a good one to choose. my LO love broccoli. You can make a cheese sauce & shepards pie, etc as lulu said. My LO loved weetabix too.
I just played it by ear with when to feed more, DS2 was a HUNGRY boy so needed more& sooner than DS1- just give it a go if she doesnt want more leave it a week or two and try again.
