My dd is 10 months. we blw. For at least the past 6-8 weeks she seemed to really be getting food and consuming a lot. Now suddenly the past 4 days she refuses everything. What ould have changed? is this a normal phase that aall babies go through/ She's on the lean side so cant really afford to starve herself, but suddenly all she wants is breastmilk? anyone any ideas please?

Teething? My DS always went a bit off his food when he was teething. He was a skinny BLW as well so I always worried but he's always started eating again after a few days.

According the the Gill Rapley book the occasional famine is normal. Is she showing any signs of being ill or teething as HolidaysQueen says.

hi girls yes i think she is a bit teethy, and she has some nappy rash - could that affect her appetite?

my DD usually has nappy rash as a symptom of teething

teething, or maybe is coming down with a cold (which all mine did when teething in fact).

as long as she still wants to BF then don;t fret. tis normal for them to dip and wane while learning to eat 'proper food'.

DS has bad nappies and nappy rash when teething - sounds like it could be this. try not to fret (hard as it is, i know!). she'll probably bounce back very soon and she won't starve if she has increased her bm intake - far more calorific than any finger foods

DD stopped eating for 1 week when her first lot of teeth came through (7.5 months). As quickly as she stopped she started again.

She didnt up her milk intake, but at that age she was having about 8 BF in 24 hrs.

DD1 who is 2.4 (and was BLW and is still on the skinny side) still occasionally goes through a famine stage. It's hard to ignore but I try my best to and she usually either gets noticeably ill after or comes out the other side fairly quickly.
