My DS is 8 and 1/2 months. Currently he is on 4 bottles a day, plus 3 meals. His lunch is normally fairly minimal, with his biggest feed at his evening meal. He isnt fussy at all and will snack on the odd rice cake over the day. I am a bit worried cos he is quite rapidly dropping through the weight centiles. My gp isnt overly concerned as he is still putting weight on, just at a much slower rate (hw is now 18lb 13) The doc has said he probably suffers with reflux, which I always suspected but not seriously enough for medication, howver we have a lot of throwing up every day! My sil's keep telling me he should eat more food and have less bottle now. In fairness he has had one bug after the other recently including a horrid bout of this gastric thing going around. Are they right and I should be dropping bottles and getting more grub in him or should I just let him go at his own pace building his appetite after his illnesses. I am due to go back to work soon and am feeling anxious about this. other than refusing to roll he seems to be developing well in all other areas. Many thanks.

I'd go at his pace. My ds was also on 4 bottles at 8 months along with meals. He started losing interest in the daytime bottles from about 9 months and was down to 2 bottles by 10 1/2 months.

When do you give milk/solids? I always split them up so that ds would still have an appetite for solids but didnt cut his milk too quickly either. At 8 months a day would have gone like this:

7am - milk
8am - breakfast
11am - milk
12pm- lunch
2.30pm - milk
5pm - dinner
7.15pm - milk

Almost identical Seona, except we start and finish the day a bit later. I just dont understand why his weight is tailing off and as lovely as the sil's are they can be a bit forceful, I was wondering if I was doing something wrong. thanks
