Cup or bottle for weaning off BF?

I want to gradually move my DS of 8 months from BF to formula feeds. At the moment he is having his morning milk as formula from a cup and is getting on well with it. I'm planning on gradually switching the remaining BF one at a time over the next month or so.

The question is do I use the cup or bottle for the feeds. He has never liked the bottle much but I don't know whether he would take a cup first thing in the morning or last thing at night - surely a bottle would be more like a nipple on the comfort side of things?

Has anyone else switched to a cup for all feeds?

I tried and DD at 6-8mths would drink milk from a cup, but never very much. Only when I switched to a bottle at almost 10 months did she drink it properly and make weaning possible - I am sure the sucking on a teat is more comforting. Now I am trying to reintroduce the cup but I can't see her dropping the bedtime bottle for quite a while.
