Cows milk before 1 year?

Has anyone done this? if so at what age?

My two friends have both been advised to give their same aged LO's cows milk to drink during day from a cup, as they have dropped certain FF's during day. And the HV has said that due to them eating so well and having plenty of calcium rich foods that it was ok to give them cow juice early.

DD is 10.5MO and has always eaten a well balanced and varied diet since weaning. Since stopping Bfeeding at 7 months, I have noticed that she's never really had huge amounts of formula (we struggle to get 4-5 oz down her at a time), but I think this may be because introducing formula clashed with weaning onto meals and she's always had a very big appetite for solids.
Whats the general feeling?

You could give the odd drink of cows milk just now alongside the formula to get your lo used to the taste and then go over completely from 1 year.

Thanks - I did try a cup of cows milk with DD the other day but her nappy was quite bad afterwards.
To be honest, she loves water and I am quite happy for her to have that to drink as she is eating loads of dairy in her diet.
Thanks for the advice

hi

i was advised to give my little one cows milk.

she was quite constipated. the doctor told me to reduce her iron intake to help this. as formula has added iron she said to start feeding her one bottle a day cows milk.

she only has 2 and a half bottle per day so her morning bottle is formula and the other 2 are cows milk

not had any change with her apart from the constipation has gone

I did this from around 11 months. My Dss are both healthy and good eaters. This was not due to medical advice, it just seemed a natural progression.

I don't want to hijack but have a question of my own on a similar topic. DS is 8 months and has 2 (sometimes 3) feeds from me a day, plus 3 solid meals - always cereal, plenty of cheese sauce so quite a bit of calcium. I would prefer to avoid the faff of switching to formula for the next few months, but if he does start dropping more feeds should I try with formula? Or is it OK to just go straight to cows' milk?
