Poss problem with going from formula to cows milk!!!

My ds is now 15months. He has been having cows milk for his morning bottle since he was 12 months, but we kept him on formula for bedtime as we had a holiday booked for tunisia so wanted him to still have a taste for formula to be able to drink it while away. We got back 2 weeks ago, so put him straight onto cows milk in the evening since then.

The problem we have been having for the last 2 weeks is his sleep. He has always gone off to sleep byhimself and has slept very well and since being on his feet from 13months had been sleeping 12 hours solid most nights. Now he struggles to go to sleep by himself, most times has to be cuddled to get him off. (has never dont this since being 6 weeks old). Once asleep he is restless and we are up to him many times through the night, and he is waking up far earlier than normall and is very grumpy until he has his milk.

Tonight we have given him a cartoon of formula and so far we hant heard a peep out of him since going to bed an hour ago.

I dont mind if he want to have formula thats fine, but how to i wean him off it as he cant have it forever?

Have you tried putting cows milk in a bottle at night?

We did this with DD at 12 months. At 15 months we stopped her bottles all together as she drinks milk and eats enough during the day. To be honest, we went on holiday and in my rush I stupidly forgot to pack any bottles!! I was in tears and ready to head back home She fussed for 5 min the first night and never again since. Maybe she was just ready but I don't know. She is my first, so I have no real experience with difficulties, but I would try just giving him cows milk in a bottle and see what happens with that. It may take a few nights but if he already likes cows milk then he may take to it fine.

Or, you could try to set up a new bedtime rutine that does not involve a bottle and see how that goes for a few nights. Depends on if you want him to have cows milk, or no bottles?

Oh right sorry, just re-read and see that you have tried it in a bottle...sorry!

You could mix cow and formula - maybe 1/4 cow and 3.4 formula, and then gradually drop it down to be fully cow if his sleep seems okay.

The sleep could just be a coincidence with the milk - could be related to being back from holiday and a change in diet/temperature/time zone - but having a usual 12 hour sleeping 12mo, I know how nice that is and why you don't want to change it!
