breakfast is usually cereal or yoghurt with fruit. I make lunch and dinner, I make sure there is carbohydrate, vegetable and fat (usually in dairy) but no protein. How important is protein in a 7mo? What sort of protein (vegetarian) can I give him? Am open to fish occasioanlly if he's old enough.

Meat and fish are the easiest ways to give protein.
He needs protein for growth, development and repair it is very important.
How do you get your protein I'm assuming you are veggie?
Small amounts of pulses could be used aswell.

Quinoa (sp?) is a form of vegetable protein i think - got the idea from the plum baby food in supermarket see here

I used to use it for ds - would cook up veggies and add cooked quinoa to the mix.

I eat eggs and pulses mainly for protein. Ok, I'll start adding lentils and stuff and try some fish. Can he have eggs?

yes he can have eggs as long as the white and yolk are fully cooked. Cheese is another source of protein as is his milk.
