Sweet Tooth !!

Hi All

Our 10.5 Month old boy loves to eat but only sweet tasting fruit and veg. We make fresh oragnic sweet potato, which he loves and he loves sweetcorn. He eats his porridge in the morning with no problem.
He also loves Ellas kitchen and plum organic, both stage 1. He does not like anything savory, whether veg or meat.
We have tried giving savory meat/veg but he just gags and refuses to eat.
We need to get some protein in him!
We tried chick peas today and he hated it!
We have also tried mixing proteins with his favorite sweet pototoe without much sucess.

He still does not have any teeth, could it be he is not ready yet?
Is it a stage he is going through?
Will he choose when he's ready?
Will his tastes change?

Thanks

All sounds perfectly normal! Milk, whether breast or bottle is generally sweet so that's what he's used to. Keep offering it with no pressure and he'll take it when he needs it. 10.5 months is still very young.

Are you pureeing? Maybe give him some bits to fiddle with/ lick and grow accustomed to without expecting him to actually eat the. It can take 10 goes before they'll like it.

My DS loves frozen special mixed veg as it's sweet (peas and broccoli), so I buy frozen soya beans and mix them in. It took him a while, but he loves them now.

How about egg? My DS will eat an omelette if it's got peas in!

I wouldn't worry about the sweet tooth. He will soon get bored of the sweet potato and get interested in the savory food. Maybe you should try mixing less meat to start with. They don't really need much. What have you tried? Maybe chicken has a mild taste and can go well with avocado or sweetcorn. Just a thought.
