I think there's something in that theory. When DS has a bad cold, all he wants to eat is oranges. Anyone else reckon their baby knows instinctively what their body needs?

I do. My DS can be funny about what he eats - but he's not rejecting "good" foods for bad ones. Some days he picks all the brocolli out of his dinner, other days he eats all the carbs. some days he rejects the lot after a few mouthfuls and waits for his yoghurt and other days he has nothing but fruit for lunch. It all evens out and he eats a pretty good diet in general (except yesterday when he had breast milk, some grapes and the best part of a ring doughnut. I think I offered him food at the wrong times as he had a nap later than normal)
