I think it's wrong to have been sent info on weaning and dd5 isn't even 4 months yet.

Ok, I know it's my fault for signing up for these things (do anything for a freebie ) but in the last week I've had 3 lots of information re weaning. I do intend to wait until she's 6 months but I can see how people can feel under pressure to start before then. I know these companies are trying to sell their products but I don't think they should be allowed to send this stuff out so early.

who sent it? name and shame. you could contact the companies and point out the DoH's guidelines. I remember too getting offers from boots when DS was around 3-4 months for babyrice etc.

Companies know there are people who start weaning early and they want that market.

There's no money in waiting until 6 months which is why you can whistle if you think the 4-6 on the side of the Petit Filous tubs and similar will ever change.

Lots of mothers would already be thinking about it and planning it, even if they don't intend to start for another couple of months.

Cow & Gate/Aptamil and I had an email about "don't forget to collect your free Bounty pack". They do state that weaning is not recommended before 6 months but I feel they're still sowing the idea. I don't know if it will do any good but have considered ringing them to remove my details and telling them why.

I realise people will be planning ahead, I've certainly thought about what I'm going to do but more than 8 weeks?

Thank god for MN, eh?

I havent started weaning my 5 month old son yet but I have baby porriage etc in the cuboard and have thought about if im going down the puree/BLW route. As wotulookinat said lots of mothers think about it well in advance.
