House has water softener - can baby drink the water?

Hi, we live in a rented house. The water in this area is very hard and causes a lot of problems. The landlord recently had a softening system installed. I have a 4 month old who I am breastfeeding but with weaning in mind can she safely drink the water if it is boiled? It doesn't seem to use salt - the guy who installed it said it is a new type of system that cycles at night and is fine to drink. Clueless about it really - will try to get in touch with the landlord to see if he knows.

Thanks

you should have a separate drinking water tap.

Probably not though if the water is supposed to be safe to drink as the person installing it said.
