Hello mum's, I am new to this site so a big hello to you all. I have an almost 5 mnth old daughter called Amelia, she is my first and very happy and gorgeous. She is just like her dad in the sense that when it comes to weaning, she cant get enough. You put it on a spoon and offer it to her, she will gulp it down. She has always been a hungry baby needing to be on Cow & Gate stage2 milk but has always been smaller than the other babies but not underweight. She is very long.
Anyway, my question is that im worried she may be taking to much for her age. Amelia has a 7oz bottle in the morning with 2 tablespoons of baby porridge. I gave her 6oz bottle at 11 but she screams for more so i offered her 2 more and so now she has an 8oz bottle at 11. She then has a 7oz bottle at 3 and at 4-4:30 she has about a 3rd of the Cow and Gate stage 1 jars or 2 ice cubes of a home made puree depending on if we are out or not and she has about half a plum baby organic yogurt. Then at 7pm she has a 7oz bottle. Thats 30oz of milk a day plus solids. Is this too much or is this normal at the early stages as i thought her milk intake would go down. When i offer her the food she eats it all, she doesnt refuse it ever so am i giving her enough solids? Im worried she may be like her dad and just eat if its offered to her or should i keep giving and see if she refuses it when she is full?
She has always been a good sleeper, going 7-7 from 9 wks but since weaning and wanting more she is up in the night screaming. 2 nights ago she was up in the night and so the following morning we introduced the breakfast and so she slept through, we did the same the next day and she was up in the night again but im worried to give her more incase she gets fat or its unhealthy for her etc. We used to put half a rusk in her last bottle to thicken it a bit to delay weaning too at least 4 months as like i said, she is a very hungry baby but i stopped that when weaning as i thought she would be taking too much for her age and weight etc. Last time i weighed her about 2wks ago she was 13lb 5oz. She is still in 0-3 clothes so she is little. (except on trousers because they are too small in length but they fit her perfectly around the waist).
Sorry if i have waffled on here but i cant find anything on whats right or not online or in books and i really do not rate my health visitor what so ever. She is part time once a wk for 2hrs and rushes everyone through the system. Drives me nuts.
Thank you mums in advance for any help or advice here.

I'm no expert, but you sound abit desperate!!!

Sounds like a growth spurt, I would just feed her what she wants as (I don't think) babies can't really over feed themselves. Up the amount shes eating, so more breakfast lunch and dinner, and maybe pudding. DS2 didn't start dropping Milk feeds until he was about 7 months (I weaned at 6 months) 30oz in 24 hours sounds fine to me (just worked out that DS2 has 25 still, and DS1 would have had more as he took 7oz feeds not 6oz), but like I said, I'm no expert. I don't believe for a second your going to make your baby fat! (anyway chubby babies are cute!)

Really don't stress, it all comes together in the end.. I promise!

Thank you so much for your comment and help. I feel loads better now. I definatly agree that its a growth spurt as she normally goes 4 hourly and now every 3 and a half she wants food.
Just one of those things that will sort itself out. Many Thanks., x

Hi and welcome!

The amount of milk sounds fine to me and sounds very similar to my dd at that age! She had a growth spurt at that age too and was wolfing down five 8oz bottles. I wouldn't bother with increasing solids or introducing rusks etc, just give her as much milk as she wants to drink - looads of milk!
