weaning has been going ok with my DD since I started about 6 weeks ago. She's now 7 months and will eat mushy foods or small lumps (eg mince) so I don't have to puree everything. However she is showing no interest in finger foods or anything that she has to chew - pieces of toast or bananas just stay in her mouth until they dissolve or she spits them out. When will she start chewing and how can I help her? its ironic because any other object she gets her hands on goes straight into her mouth and she chews it, but just not food!

Do you offer meals or do days where you only offer finger food so she can't go for the easy option of mushy food?

i haven't offered mushy food and finger food at the same time but maybe will try doing finger food first when she's most hungry.
