Help with weaning from formula to cows milk

My dd is 15 months and is refusing to give up her formula. We initially tried it "cold turkey" but she was clamping her mouth shit. She usually has 7oz so we then tried weaning her on to it (ie 6oz formula and 1oz milk). We slowly increased the milk and decreased the formula. She was fine until we hit 4oz milk to 3oz formula. She is now refusing to take it.

Any ideas on how to wean her off? Do we just switch cold turkey and hope that she eventually gets the message? She drinks lots of water and diluted juice and eats plenty of yoghurt and fromage frais so I'm not concerned about her getting dehydrated or lacking in calcium. I just don't want to stress her out. I work full time so only have Saturdays and Sundays with her and, as selfish as it sounds, I want that time together to be filled with playing, not battles.

I'd appreciate any advice you have.

Could you just keep reducing the formula till she's not having any and not worry about giving her cow's milk as a drink. As long as she's having about 12oz (3 servings)of full fat dairy products a day, yoghurt, cheese, fromage frais etc. there's no need for her to drink milk see Healthy Start website

I will keep trying. It just seems that as soon as we reduce the formula down to 3oz formula and 4oz cows milk, she just clamps her mouth shut and refuses to touch it.

That being said, she has two new beakers (with straws) and I put straight cows milk in it this morning and she's drank most of it.

Maybe it was more an issue with her old beakers?

Now the other question, will Morrissons allow me to return unopened formula? I just bought a new box yesterday!!

Just stop giving it to her, no need to keep trying

Hi SummerC. I know that Sainsburys don't allow return of formula/baby food, so I doubt that Morrissons will be any different. Shame!

Oh BTW your typo in your original post made me giggle...

It made me giggle too Deanna. I make the stupidest typos!
