My dd is 6 months. In the past 2 weeks I have tried her on baby rice, she went mad after first spoonful. I have since tried my own puree, jar babyfood and baby ceareals all with no luck.
Yesterday I gave her a bit of toast and banana to do herself. She seemed to enjoy it and did eat one mouthful toast and a bite banana. The rest of the time she threw it on the floor and generally played with it.
I have been a childminder for 3 years and have always weaned the old fasahioned way. I don't know anything about BLW am I doing it right? Is there anything else I could do to get her to eat anything at all puree or otherwise?
Please help me she is obviously not being satisfied on just formula anymore and needs food but I am stuck how to go on from here TIA!

I just gave DD bits of everything, bits of pasta, carrot, brocolli, peas, cheese, anything really. Probably not much will go in but it's all learning. She obviously likes to do things her own way

Now wait for all the real experts to come on and tell you how to BLW cos they know far more than me

She gags on the tiniest bit of food too is this normal?

Yes as far as I know. DD did this as well and it is worrying but it really is just her moving the food back to the front of her mouth if it goes too far back. I was totally convinced she'd coke to death by teatime but she never did. At 14 months DD still does this sometimes only now it's far lovelier things like huge chewed up bits of rancid banana or pulverised weetabix! She only does it when she shoves far too much in her mouth at once through sheer impatience or greed (don't know where she gets that from )

They good thing is that they are learning how much they can handle and what to do with it but I know it is really worrying at the time.

choke to death even. I don't let her have my diet coke...yet...

What's the panic??? Your baby is only 6 mths. She's learning about taste and texture and how to handle them. Naturally, this will include throwing it on the floor, and gagging.

You're doing fine

As usual, someone else says it far more eloquently and better than me!
