I have just started to wean my dd2. The gagging does freak me out. Are some foods better than others and does it improve quickly???

She manages some stuff better than others, sweet potatoe cut into slices with the skin left on has been the biggest success but i've noticed she gags ALOT with bread stuffs like bagels, rusks, toast.

Any other good stuff less likely to induce the horrible gagging that makes me so nervous!!

my dd loves steamed broccoli, and id you ut it into small tree shapes then they can hold that and suck the tips away to nothing

How old is dd2? It's been a while since ds was at that stage so I've forgotten most of it, but if your dd is gagging, I'd be inclined to just offer tastes rather than aiming for actual meals. Don't bother about cereals for now, IMO!

Ds managed banana chunks quite well at first (like your dd he loved sweet potato) or cooked apple (depends if you are doing baby-led weaning, though, I guess).

thanks everyone, going to try brocoli tonight.

she loves oranges too, leaving skin on helps avoid too much gagging!

i will persevere
