She'll have grazed or done a tiny "paper cut" in her bottom I expect so it'll sting like mad if she poos.

So prob nearly goes and then holds it in at the last minute?

See the doc for suppositories or lactulose on Monday?

In the meantime there are loads of things that can soften poo - is she eating anything yet? If so weetabix? Squished up prunes? Ice cream (always worked a treat for us!)?

If she's not weaned yet use orange juice as a "medicine"? Give her some half and half OJ & water off a spoon several times a day until it's softer.

Good luck. Passing the solid poo may well be painful but hopefully what's behind it will be softer if she's able to have any of the above.

she is weaned, but possible dairy allergy, hence no weetabix as it needs milk...

well buy some lactulose from the chemist? And give her a tiny dose?

You can give weetabix with warm orange juice on it or soya milk?

We are going through something similar and were advised to try a 'p' diet. Basically, peas, prunes, pears, peaches all help soften the poo so it is easier to pass. Try not to give babyrice with added iron for a while as this can lead to constipation apparently. Also, gentle massaging of the anus.

Hope it passed soon.
