Apple, carrot and cucumber sticks!

What age / competence would you hand them over?

I do BLW but am worried about chunks snapping off and DS choking. He's been eating a week and doesn't really gag any more and has started to eat decent amounts amazingly.

Give him half an apple, a whole carrot (if raw) and a chunk of cucumber. Sticks are liable to just snap off, wheras big bits are just gnawed to death. I gave all of those early on

That's a good idea! would you skin the apple and cucumber?

I didn't - but I am a scummy mummy. What tends to happen is that they scrape off the softer bits and leave the skin behind at first, and then get into eating it later on. The advantage is that they never think that you are going to peel fruit and veg for them - my now toddler just eats the whole thing, core and all
