Confusion about formula after 6 months

Evening, my LO is 27 weeks and I am doing BLW, he is probably 70% breastfed still but has formula when he goes to nursery because I can't be bothered to express. He has been on hungry baby formula but was wondering if now I should be switching to follow-on milk instead? Any advice appreciated as I don't really know the difference between baby formula and follow-on formula....

the difference between normal formula and follow-on is that follow-on was created purely so that companies could market their brand

it is not necessary for your baby to have it. it contains more iron and can make some children constipated. there is no compelling reason to use it IMO.

Follow on formula is weaker in strength - to get babies weaned off milk and on to food.

It works for some babies. Not for others.

I use SMA GOld, White (sometimes) during the day and progress at night.

That is working for us.

DS is 8 months old.

follow on is cheaper though

You also get advantage/club card points etc with follow on milk.

But as has been mentioned earlier some Los do get constipated on it.

DS1 was/is FF. I changed to the follow-on milk as you could get points/promotions on them (used cow&gate). He doesnt like cows milk apart from a bit on cereal so he still gets 7ozs morning & night as he's only 16months old and needs milk of some description. I personally havent had any problems with follow-on milk
