Help… trying to move on from purees but DS keeps throwing up.

DS is now 8months and I have been pureeing most things. Trying to move on now to BLW and recently started on the finger foods (carrot sticks / broccoli / rice cakes / pear) and all goes well for a while then he starts gagging and then usually he throws it all up. Is this usual?I know they can gag but should I be trying other foods that will dissolve more easily??

Trouble is we?re a bit limited as he?s allergic to dairy/ eggs/ wheat; also his weight is dropping (we?re waiting to see paed and dietician)so I?m going to have to go back to purees to make sure he at least keeps some food down!

it can be usual. i suppose it's how they learn to eat isn't it?
i wouldn't be overly worried, personally.

as for his weight, his main source of nutrition should still be milk, and so feeding more frequently should sort it out

Thanks, I guess I'll just take it slow and see how he gets on!
