I'm not really one for baby books so hesitant to buy it unless people think it's worth it!

Baby Led Weaning Book by Gill Rapley

We’ve recently updated our best weaning books page with info on this book, plus plenty of other great baby-led weaning options, as recommended by Mumsnet users. We hope it helps.

Yep very helpful and reassuring.

only if you are a book type an/or want something to wave at doubting grandparents

otheriwse you can find all the information on MN and/or Aitch's Blog

macaco · 16/01/2009 14:42

I really liked it. But Aitch's blog is great.

I dont think that its worth it. Try and get it from the library.

MrsJamin · 16/01/2009 19:59

I got it from the library as DS is 1 now. I'd get it from your library if you can, it's not something that you'll really need to refer back to after you've read it once IMHO.

I read it (but like cupcake I'm a bit of a bookworm so I read whatever I can get my hands on). I kind of liked some of the ideas, although I don't think much of what Rapley says is convincingly backed up with research. I.e. she proposes a new, relatively untried way of weaning, which may be a good way to do things, but imo there might be nutritional disadvantages to letting children completely eat at their own pace. If you're looking for a concrete weaning plan / recipes then this is not the book for you; it's good if you want to get an idea of what BLW is, & how to go about planning BLW weaning...
