Is this a dairy intollerance?

DD gets blotches on her face when formula, fromage frais, or milk gets smeared on it while eating. They are red, and last about half an hour. Other than that she seems to like it.

MIL (an ex GP) says we must stop giving her any dairy as it could devellop into an allergy, but HV says carry on giving dairy. Have bought soya formula, which she likes, but I understand soya isn't very good for babies, and rice milk which is going down very well, but would love her to be able to have cheese and yoghurt. Anyone know?

Sounds like an intolerance to me.

You might be better to post this in alleries too.

My DD (11mths) is severely intolerant to all dairy and soya. Was first diagnosed at 8mths.But had a bit of a nightmare getting the right milk for her.

Think there is a high chance of your DD having a problem with soya too so I would keep an eye on her.(think its something like 50%)

You can buy soya yogurt if she is ok on the soya though by a company called alpro.

Hipp organic do a banana rice pudding jar which is dairy free.

I would go to GP personally though and see what they say...

DS has an intolerance, not huge but awful nappies, tummy ache and vomiting and has been a differnt boy on soya formula. WE have started introducing goats milk with porridge in the morning and have been told by GP that he shoudl grow out of it. When he is fully weaned and happy eating food then we will try and reintroduce dairy slowly into his diet and see what happens.
