Too much wheat in DS (15mo) diet?

Not sure if you can count a 15mo as weaning but it seems more appropriate here than under Food... !

DS would eat nothing but fruit and veg if I let him, but all he will eat in the way of carbs is toast and pasta. Sometimes will eat a tiny bit of potato/parsnip but very rarely. It's not inspiration I'm needing, as I know all about carbs and different things to try, but is it a problem if he has wheat at least twice a day, every day? He doesn't have a wheat allergy but could this bring one on?

not afaik
but it's not great to have such a limited diet
ring the changes with different types of bread (bagels, rolls, english muffins, pitta, naan etc) in white / brown / seeded / rye etc if it'll help you get out of the rut

rice? porridge? other non-wheat breakfats cereal?

What about hiding stealth carb-type veggies in other stuff - whizz some potato or parsnip into a tomato sauce for his pasta, or make potato pancakes.

Other than that, I think all you can do is keep offering these foods, and letting him see you eat them. I heard somewhere that you have to offer a new food up to 17 times to a toddler before they'll accept it.

I have to say that the thing that worked best for me was giving my children the idea that mummy and daddy were eating something different and special - that made them long to try it.

Msr Badger, his diet is extremely varied in all other respects, it's just the carbs. He will eat literally any fruit or vegetable that you give him (not like his sister!) He will happily eat different types of bread, but it's mainly still wheat, isn't it? Suppose I need to start looking into wheat-free breads/pastas. He won't do rice. Sunnygirl, he doesn't like potato pancakes - honestly, I have tried literally every carb you could think of! Good point about the 17 times thing though - I have heard that but forgotten it. I think I just can't stand another bowl of couscous on the floor to warrant trying it another few times
