Feel stupid asking, but doesn't weaning mean stopping BFing as well as starting solids???

-That's what i need help with for my 13 month old DS.

He eats anything and everything in large quantities in spite of not having a single tooth yet(!) For various reasons it's now time to get him off the boob, but he is extremely willful and demanding and currently BFs on and off all night in my bed and several times in the day. I don't even know where to begin...

Is there a tried and tested technique? A great book i should know about?

(Not sure if this is the right place to ask though, as all threads seem to be about how and when to introduce solids.)

Maybe breast/bottle feeding, but you should get responce here, covers weaning and breastfeeding I guess !

I weaned in the day first - though I went back to work so she had noooooo choice.

This has something on night weaning

It might feel better if you are getting sleep

oh - and as ever kellymom is always good

and again

I have to say that I weaned her daytime at 1 year, and night - well sometime just before 2 years.

BennyAndJoon · 05/01/2009 00:24

bugger - meant to say one feed night and morning at just before 2 years - I let her keep them as I was too lazy to get out of bed at 5.30

Then she pretty much self weaned without tooooo much encouragement from me

Thanks for the links, and good luck breakfastinbed
