I think the title says it all! We're going for a mix of purees and finger foods and am looking for ideas for DS's tea - food that he can play with eat in his high chair while I catch up on kitchen chores/prepare dinner.

houmous and grated carrot

Houmous and cream cheese

Avocado and cream cheese

mashed banana

cream cheese and chopped grapes

I am passing these on to you - even though my dd is super fussy - but she ate all of these in the early days of weaning!

toast fingers

cheese slices

scrambled egg

breadsticks to dribble over

cucumber sticks

cooked veg in fist size strips

i think that its not always about getting good food and calories in, but allowing different tastes and textures to be explored... so if your baby doesn't actually eat any of the finger food, thats ok, but they are getting the chance to try new things iykwim?

bitofasnowqueen · 04/01/2009 11:20

Absolutely mellyonion - thanks for those suggestions. He eats generally well at lunch and breakfast so perfectly happy for tea time to be more about making a mess-- exploring!

Anymore good sandwich filling suggestions for that age anyone?
