I have recently started weaning my 6mo dd,she has been having breastmilk exclusively so far.I still breastfeed but i want to switch to formula milk very soon.I am all confuesed about which formula milk i should be using???which one u use and how did you make a decision?I have checked the ingredients hoping that it's all the same, but some brands(i've checked 4)have as much as twice of some vitamin and minerals.Am I being unreasonable getting into so much detail? Please help!!!

I mix feed dd, but formula brand we use is cow and gate 1. Always get the first stage milk, not hungry baby or follow on milk, as satge 1 milk is nearer in composition to breast milk and easier to digest. i think the leading brands are mostly the same, but ive heard friends say aptimil is quite good. Good luck.

'satge' meant to read 'stage'!

I used sma gold for dd and both aptamil and cow and gate for ds. I switched to cow and gate as it was much the same as aptamil but a bit cheaper. Why not try a few ready made cartons and see if there are any she prefers.

Milupa aptamil
Best stuff
First milk then on to follow on milk i guess.. but i did go straight to follow on milk myself with my son.
'Sup to you...Or ask health visitor at doctors?

Hi Mummydonut. I did the same as you and weaned gradually from 100% BF to formula at 6 months. I used Aptimal, only because someone told me it was the closest one to breast milk (not sure if this is fact or fiction). I didn't check the labels!! I wouldn't worry about the detail too much. If you are now starting solids too a lot of the vitamins etc will also come from solid food and the number of milk feeds will gradually reduce. Good luck it is sad to stop BFeeding but also lovely to get your boobs back!!!

Bakester,I know,I feel quite emotional about that!!!And when she was born and i started i was thinking-6 months and not a day longer!Only because i happen to have quite a big breast and it's now even bigger(38G)and I hate it and...oh don't get me started!!at the same time I love dd being on my boob...

Back to the thread-Thank you all for your advice and really quick responce-It's been really helpful!!This is true that's always someone here to help(this is first thread i ever started but I read a lot)
