another on blw and slippery food - do you leave them struggling or hold it for them?

dd gets really frustrated when trying to pick up slippery stuff so once she's had a go at it herself I hold the banana, for example, and she grips both my hands and lunges open mouthed at the food. She seems happy with this but I do wonder what blw "purists" might do and whether my helping her out like this means she'll take longer to learn how to do it herself.

I think the point of BLW is just that you're not waving stuff in their face trying to get them to eat it. If you just hold it up for them to lunge at, they still have complete control of their intake, and that's the aim of the game IMO. I don't think it'll affect her ability to do it herself, as she will no doubt be picking up other slippery bit of banana on her tray, even if they don;t yet make it to her mouth.

good. I never hold it up to her mouth, she grabs my hands. She's definitely getting better at getting stuff to her mouth herself, have seen a big change in what she can manage in the 5 weeks we've been blw. Am considering loading spoons with wetter stuff too as she's really good at getting the spoon I give her to play with into her mouth.
