Dolmio sauce?

Hi. Got tobe quick as mince is in the frying pan!

DD 11 months, I am making Lasagne and I want to make some for DD to freeze in small pots.

I am making ours with dolmio red sauce. I always thought babies couldn't have these but I have just read the back and can't see any nasty ingredients? All seems mainly veg and no salt. It does say no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives?

What do you think? Can I give it to her or shall I make her a sepererate one?

It's full of sugar I think.

I wouldn't mind feeding the dolmio sauce to an 11 month old occasionally. Not sure if it is freezable though?

I also think it has quite a bit of sugar.

Quick google shows sugar to be the 4th ingredient (ingredients are listed most to least) after tomatoes/onions/tomato paste. Also has salt listed. It isn't the worst thing you could give her, but (personally) I wouldn't (but then I wouldn't give it to dh and myself either

From the dolmio site

Can your products be frozen?

Any food that is opened and has not been used within 24 hours can be split into meal sized portions and frozen. These individual meals, if sealed, can be kept in a deep freeze and will remain nutritious for up to one month. Food should then be thawed out in a refrigerator and used within 24 hours.

What CoV said. I wouldn't eat it myself. Much better to use a tin of tomatoes, some tomato puree, and some basil/organo/majoram/sage. A teeny pinch of sugar to take the acidity off the tomatoes. No salt. Just as easy as Dolmio.

I know about it being easy to do it yourself etc. Just using up stuff from the cupboard as we are skint! I am adding some onions etc to it though. I will do a seperate one for DD.
