After all the recommendations on here, I bought dd (6mths) one (lovely purple colour ).

Bit confused - I put some water in it. She was very keen to grab hold of the handles but I thought that would probably notbe the best of ideas as she would tip it all over herself. I raised it to her mouth and tipped a bit in (th elook of surprise on her face was a picture). It all came straight back out!

Is it just a case of practising? Also, when do you actually let them hold the handls themselves (18yrs old? )

Let her play with it empty then just put a splash in it so not wet when tipped.

current baby of 8.5mths has been using an open cup as she was chewing the sippy lid and making a huge mess, with the lid removed she actually drinks the water tho i retain hold of the cup she is encouraged to hold the handles.
